Instructors
Tim & Whitton
Tim and Whitton began teaching Blues together in 2008 as a way to expand and enrich the Los Angeles Blues scene. Their teaching philosophy is that dance is fundamentally about connecting with other people through a shared experience of music. It is their job as instructors to help you have more fun and thus keep you dancing. Every class has a theme and specific goals to create a clear and effective dialogue with students. Students consistently say that Whitton and Tim create a great learning environment, bring lots of energy, produce joy and laughter, and also have superb technical knowledge of the dance. They are constantly teaching, traveling, and training in an effort to give more people the Blues.
Tim O'Neill
Tim O'Neill started dancing in 1997 and couldn't stop. He has studied and taught Lindy, Ballroom, and Argentine Tango and even wrote two theses for an MA in Sociology on social dynamics and body language observed in dance venues. Now an avid student of the Blues he seeks to bring as much Blues dancing back to Los Angeles as possible through weekly venues, workshops, teacher's trainings, and private lessons. Since 2009 he has trained or taught at over forty events and has ten Blues competition titles to his name. Tim believes the best way to dance is to have fun, and learning dance enhances that ability. When taking Tim's classes expect to laugh, have fun, be entertained, and learn a lot. And be sure to ask him to dance!
Whitton Frank
Whitton Frank started dancing at eight, when she was enrolled in a ballet class. As the years progressed so did her love of dance. Over the years she has studied, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Standard Ballroom. Whitton is originally from San Francisco, but learned to blues dance at college in Pittsburgh, PA. She moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago and became involved in the swing and blues scene. Her DJing skills have been sought after all over the country because DJ Lil'Red makes the people dance. She began teaching blues dancing with Tim in September 2008. She continues to teach blues in Los Angeles, as well as around the states at dance events. Her love of dance is constantly growing and she looks forward to sharing it with you.
